He was born in Puri, Odisha but settled in New Delhi for higher education and profession in 1976. He has a varied academic background belonging to pure science, social sciences, and management. The Schooling and Intermediate college academics were based on the pure science stream. The Undergraduate(BA) and Post Graduation(MA) study was completed at “Ramjas College, Delhi University”, New Delhi in “Political Science(Hons)” in 1982. Subsequently, he completed his MPhil and Ph.D. in International Relations from the School Of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) in 1989 with additional research experience from the University of Toronto and McGill University, Canada. During his early working career, he had the privilege of acquiring an MBA in Marketing from New Port University, USA in 1998. He has a deep interest and apt in Applied Psychology.
His initial years of the academic profession started with the honor of becoming a member of the part-time teaching faculty for three years till 1989 in the Department of Chinese Studies of the School Of International Studies at JNU, New Delhi. He worked as Academic Full Time Consultant for two years from 1990 to 1992 in the academic division of the School Of Social Sciences at the “Indira Gandhi National Open University”, New Delhi. Subsequently from 1993 to 1995, he was the “Chief Executive” of Erose Educational Infotech, New Delhi, a premier Educational Training Organisation, in the teaching, counseling, business development, and administrative work profile. He worked as a full-time Director of “Vision School Of Management”, New Delhi approved by the AICTE, Govt. of India from 1996 to 2002. The college offered regular Business Management courses through Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), equivalent to MBA. As the Head of the Institution, he was responsible for the overall development and growth of the Institute on all fronts including Academics, Research, Placements, Industry Institute Interface, Social Outreach, Alumni Relations, Consultancy, Grooming of the students, Soft Skill Training, Institutional Collaborations, etc., other than administrative and teaching assignments. During his six years tenure, hundreds of students had successfully completed their PGDM course and were employed in various established organizations in different work domains.
In the quest to become an entrepreneur, he became one of the Founder Directors of "Pratham Edusys Pvt. Ltd", New Delhi in 2002. The organization's main focus was to promote student awareness of the various Universities and Colleges' admission processes, Career Counseling and Guidance, publications of Career Articles, etc. through its website "Admissionnews". In the initial years 2002 to 2006 a student monthly magazine "Admission News" was published from its Delhi office and he was the Chief Editor of the magazine. He has been associated with various Print Media, All India Radio, TV Channels, and Internet Media, particularly Career Counseling and Guidance.
